Bariatric surgery is recognized by the National Institute of Health as an effective treatment for morbid obesity.

Surgery should only be performed by a General Surgeon who is dedicated to the sub-specialty bariatric surgery. (I am board certified)

The Johns Hopkins Health System and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine are dedicated to the treatment and research of morbid obesity and its health related conditions.

Experience, low complication rate, excellent outcomes….this is not the time to go to any surgeon on an insurance list. Morbid Obesity Surgery is considered to be Major Abdominal Surgery. Laparoscopic approaches vary and so do the results. I was the first in the Mid-Atlantic area to perform Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, and the first in Maryland/DC/Northern Virginia/ Delaware to perform Laparoscopic Lap-Band surgery. I started one of the first top 10 laparoscopic gastric bypass programs in the country.  I am also one of the few surgeons who performs laparoscopic duodenal switch with biliopancreatic diversion.  I routinely perform, teach and consult on laparoscopic obesity surgery.

Review of our last 1000 gastric bypass operations reveals no leaks (1/1/2006).  This is one of the lowest leak rates in the world!!!

HealthGrades®again rated us 5 stars!!!!

The only 5 star Bariatric Surgery Hospital in the area!
